Look, this is what happens when a streaming service needs content and a studio has IP to milk. Knuckles—the red echidna with anger management issues from the Sonic movies—gets his own show where he trains Wade, the bumbling deputy, in warrior combat. It's exactly as necessary as it sounds.
The good news: it's harmless. Your elementary-age Sonic fan will probably enjoy the physical comedy and seeing a familiar character. The bad news: a Metacritic score of 61 and Letterboxd rating of 2.8/5 tell you everything you need to know about quality. This is filler content, not must-watch TV.
The mentorship angle is genuinely wholesome, and there's something to be said for a show about dedication and training. But six episodes of this premise feels like someone stretched a fun idea way too thin. It's safe, it's age-appropriate, and it's... fine. Your kid won't learn anything terrible, but they also won't remember it in six months.
If your household is deep in Sonic fandom, go ahead and throw it on. Otherwise, there's better stuff out there.
