It Came from the Deep is a solid addition to the Spirited series that hits all the right notes for a middle-grade graphic novel. It manages to be atmospheric and 'ghostly' without crossing the line into nightmare territory, making it an ideal pick for kids who want a little thrill with their humor.

Because it’s book six, the characters are well-established, but the lake-house mystery is self-contained enough that a newcomer could jump in here. It's the kind of book that turns 'required reading time' into something kids actually look forward to, especially during the fall.
