This is a perfectly fine picture book that does exactly what it says on the tin: a rhyming story about a girl who wants a horse and learns to appreciate what she already has. It's sweet, safe, and wholesome in that Sunday-school-craft-project kind of way.
The problem? It's also pretty forgettable. The 3.8 Amazon rating tells the story—parents bought it hoping for magic, got something serviceable instead. The Christian messaging is gentle but omnipresent (it's part of a 'Pure-As-Gold Seal' series designed to 'plant deep truths'), which is great if that's your jam, less great if you're looking for a universal horse story.
If you've got a 5-year-old who's obsessed with horses and you're okay with faith-based content, this will land just fine. But there are more imaginative, more engaging horse books out there for the same age group. This one works in a pinch but probably won't become a beloved bedtime staple.
