Let's be crystal clear: Fleabag is not remotely appropriate for children or young teens, which is why it scores so low on WISE. The synopsis literally describes the protagonist as 'sexual, angry, porn-watching' - that's your first clue.
That said, for ADULTS, this is exceptional television. Phoebe Waller-Bridge created something genuinely groundbreaking with its fourth-wall-breaking intimacy and unflinching exploration of grief, sexuality, and modern womanhood. It's funny, devastating, and brilliantly written.
But here's the thing: your teens will hear about it. It's culturally significant enough that it comes up. When it does, this is an opportunity to talk about why some art is genuinely meant for adults - not because you're being controlling, but because the themes require emotional maturity to process healthily.
This is a show for your watchlist, not the family queue. Put the kids to bed, pour yourself a drink, and enjoy some of the best television of the past decade. Just make sure your streaming profile has parental controls set up.
