Doraemon has genuine imaginative appeal—the futuristic gadgets are creative and the 'what if' scenarios can spark good conversations. The problem is everything else.
This is a 1979 show with 1500+ episodes that multiple parents describe as 'all the same.' The main character never learns, the formula never changes, and the animation style feels ancient. One Reddit parent bluntly calls it 'for pre-school kids' despite Common Sense Media recommending it for 10+, which tells you something about the engagement level.
It's safe, it's wholesome enough, and the gadgets are cool. But unless your kid is already a Doraemon superfan or you're feeling nostalgic, there are dozens of more engaging shows that teach better lessons without the mind-numbing repetition. The IMDB rating of 8.2 reflects nostalgia more than modern watchability.
