Look, let's be honest: this movie is not good. An 8% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes is brutal, and it's earned. This is a paint-by-numbers sequel that exists purely because the first one made money.
That said, it's completely harmless. If you need 94 minutes of safe, mindless entertainment for elementary-aged kids on a rainy afternoon, this will do the job without any content concerns. Steve Martin is a pro, the family values are fine, and nothing scary or inappropriate will pop up.
But don't expect anyone to remember this movie fondly, or really at all. It's the definition of forgettable family content—safe and wholesome, yes, but also derivative, uninspired, and frankly kind of boring even for its target audience. The audience score of 57% tells you that even regular families weren't impressed.
