Look, this is a perfectly safe, perfectly wholesome movie that your kids will probably find perfectly boring. It's got the right messages about family and courage, and nothing will traumatize anyone, but it's also just... there.
The 1991 animation feels sluggish, the story is a retread of the first film (which wasn't amazing to begin with), and the whole thing has that direct-to-video energy even though it got a theatrical release. The 59% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes tells you everything: it's fine, but nobody's excited about it.
If your 5-7 year old is really into mice or the Wild West, sure, throw it on. But don't expect them to ask for repeat viewings. There are just so many better animated films out there—even from the '90s—that this one feels like settling for the store-brand cereal when Pixar and modern animation exist.
It won't hurt anyone, but it also won't wow anyone. That's the Fievel Goes West experience.
