Yes Man has a fun premise and Jim Carrey doing his thing, which is enough to make it watchable for teens who enjoy his comedy style. The 'say yes to life' message has potential, but the film never interrogates its own philosophy—there's no real conversation about boundaries, consent, or when 'no' is the right answer.
The bigger issue for families is the sexual content. An oral sex scene (even if brief and played for laughs), repeated masturbation jokes, and general crude humor make this firmly teen territory. It's not traumatizing, but it's definitely not family movie night with the 10-year-old.
Critics weren't impressed (44% on RT), but audiences were more forgiving (66%). It's middling Carrey—entertaining enough if you're in the mood, but not one of his classics. For teens 13-14+, it's fine if you're looking for light comedy and don't mind the adult humor. Just be ready to have a conversation about why saying yes to everything is actually a terrible life strategy.
