The Bloodline and the New Standard
After years of iterative updates, WWE 2K25 feels like the game the developers have been trying to make since the 2K22 reboot. The headline feature is the Showcase Mode, which focuses on the Roman Reigns-led 'Bloodline' saga. It’s essentially a playable documentary, and for fans of the current product, it’s a masterclass in fan service. It’s the best way to engage with the game’s history-driven content without it feeling like a chore.
The Sandbox vs. The Slot Machine
There are two games inside this box. The first is a brilliant, open-ended wrestling sandbox. The creation suite is so deep that you can find community-created versions of almost every pop-culture character imaginable—from Batman to SpongeBob. IGN's review correctly identifies this as the game's greatest strength. It’s a huge outlet for creativity and digital 'action figure' play.
The second game is MyFaction. This is where the red flags live. It’s a card-collecting mode that mirrors Madden’s Ultimate Team or FIFA's Ultimate Team. It uses limited-time events and 'FOMO' (fear of missing out) to push players toward the storefront. As a parent, this is the only part of the game that requires a real 'sit-down' talk. If your kid is prone to compulsive gaming or doesn't understand the value of a dollar, MyFaction is a minefield.
Performance on Switch 2
Crucially, for families on the go, the Nintendo Switch 2 version is finally a competent port. Unlike the disastrous Switch releases of the past, this version holds a steady frame rate, making it a viable option if you don't want to tie up the main TV for a three-hour Royal Rumble.
If your kid is a wrestling nut, they're going to want this. It's a 'banger after banger' entry that justifies its existence through sheer volume of features, provided you keep the credit card on lockdown.
