Look, if you loved Sex and the City and want a gay-centered version with Neil Patrick Harris, you'll probably enjoy this. It's witty enough, looks expensive, and the representation matters.
But let's be real: it's also derivative, occasionally shallow, and very much in the 'background TV while folding laundry' category. Critics were mixed (73% on Rotten Tomatoes means 'fine, not great'), and the show was canceled after one season, which tells you something about its staying power.
For parents: this is absolutely not for kids. The TV-MA rating is earned—there's nudity, sexual content, and a tone that's unapologetically adult. If you have a mature 15-16 year old who's ready for that level of content and you want to use it as a springboard for conversations about LGBTQ+ experiences or dating after heartbreak, fine. But preview it first and be prepared for awkwardness.
For everyone else, it's a perfectly serviceable adult rom-com that won't change your life but also won't waste it. Just don't expect Sex and the City-level cultural impact.
