The Worst Witch is perfectly fine—and that's both its strength and its limitation. It's a safe, wholesome choice for young elementary kids who are into magic but not ready for anything darker or more complex. The friendship themes are solid, and normalizing mistakes is genuinely valuable.
That said, this isn't going to blow anyone's mind. It's comfort viewing with a very predictable formula, and the production feels more "pleasant British children's programming" than "can't-miss Netflix hit." The 2017 version is modern enough to be watchable (unlike some truly dated kids' shows), but it's not particularly memorable or enriching beyond basic social-emotional lessons.
If your kid is 7 and obsessed with witches, this will absolutely hit the spot. If they're 11 or looking for something with more depth, this will feel like baby stuff. It's a solid B-minus: does the job, won't cause problems, but probably won't become anyone's favorite show either.
