This is a deep-cut 1999 Japanese period drama that most modern kids will find about as exciting as watching paint dry in slow motion. It's wholesome and has its heart in the right place, but the production values and pacing are firmly stuck in the last century.
Unless your teen is a hardcore history buff or a samurai cinema completionist, this is a skip. It’s not that it's bad, it’s just that it’s inaccessible and lacks the 'hook' needed to compete with modern entertainment.
