The Try Guys occupy that weird YouTube middle ground—not toxic or dangerous, but not particularly valuable either. It's comfort food content: easy to consume, mildly entertaining, and pretty forgettable.
The 2022 scandal where they had to publicly fire Ned Fulmer for an affair with a staffer was messy and very public, which means this channel comes with baggage. To their credit, Keith, Zach, and Eugene handled it with transparency and accountability, but it shifted the vibe from 'wholesome friend group' to 'workplace drama we're all processing together.'
The content itself is fine for older teens—lots of food challenges, ranking videos, and 'we tried X' formats. But there's frequent alcohol content, adult humor, and the kind of overstimulated YouTube energy that's designed to keep you scrolling. If your 14-year-old is watching, they're probably fine. If your 10-year-old wants to binge, maybe steer them elsewhere.
Bottom line: It's not harmful, but it's also not doing much for your kid except filling time. There are better ways to spend 20 minutes.
