This is one of those rare preschool shows that doesn't make you want to claw your eyes out. The puppet work is charming, RuPaul's narration adds just the right touch of warmth, and the cooking content is genuinely engaging.
The speech impediment thing is real—Plugged In specifically calls it out as potentially difficult to understand, and some parents echo that. But most families seem to find it endearing rather than problematic, and kids adapt quickly.
The vegetarian angle is matter-of-fact rather than preachy. Tiny Chef is a herbivore, so he cooks plant-based meals. If your kid asks why, you can explain it just like you'd explain why some people are vegetarian. Not a big deal unless you make it one.
Bottom line: This is a solid, imaginative, genuinely wholesome show that might actually get your kid interested in cooking. And you won't hate watching it with them, which is basically the gold standard for preschool TV.
