This is a genuinely lovely film with a big heart and even bigger visuals. It's about a guy who stops living through fantasies and starts living for real—a message that honestly slaps in our screen-saturated world.
The cinematography alone is worth it: Iceland's otherworldly landscapes, Greenland's stark beauty, Himalayan peaks. It's basically travel porn with a soul. Ben Stiller (who also directed) plays Walter with sweetness and vulnerability, and the daydream sequences are creative and fun.
That said, it's not perfect. Critics were mixed (52% on RT) because it can feel a bit saccharine and the pacing is deliberate—this is not a Marvel movie. Kids raised on rapid-fire editing might struggle to stay engaged. But for tweens and teens who can handle a slower burn, this delivers a genuinely uplifting experience about courage and self-discovery.
It's safe, it's inspiring, and it might just make your kid want to put down their phone and go outside. Or at least Google 'Iceland flights.'
