Look, this is the poster child for why direct-to-video Disney sequels got a bad rap. The original Aladdin is a masterpiece; this is what happens when the studio realizes they can make a quick buck with a fraction of the budget.
The animation is stiff, the story is paint-by-numbers, and even the songs feel like they were written during a lunch break. Rotten Tomatoes scores (33% critics, 40% audience) tell the story—even nostalgic fans struggle to defend this one.
That said, it's perfectly safe for young kids and won't traumatize anyone. If your 5-year-old is obsessed with Aladdin and demands to know what happens next, fine, put it on. But don't expect them to ask for repeat viewings, and don't expect to stay awake yourself. There are dozens of better options on Disney+ that will actually hold everyone's attention.
