Look, Jackie Chan is a legend, but The Medallion is not his finest hour. The 2003 CGI looks like a PlayStation 2 cutscene, the plot is paint-by-numbers, and critics absolutely savaged it (17% on Rotten Tomatoes is brutal). The action sequences have Chan's signature flair, but they're buried under a formulaic script and over-the-top effects that haven't aged well.
For families, it's PG-13 for a reason—moderate violence, some sexual humor, and mild profanity mean it's best for kids 12 and up. Younger viewers might be scared by the fighting or confused by the mystical immortality stuff. But even for the target age, this is a tough sell in 2025. Modern kids raised on Marvel and high-budget fantasy will find this clunky and boring.
If your kid is a Jackie Chan superfan or you're looking for free background noise on Tubi, fine. Otherwise, skip it and watch Kung Fu Panda or Shang-Chi instead—better action, better story, and actually watchable.
