This isn't your 'happily ever after' folklore. It's the raw, weird, and often violent foundation of Western fantasy. Sioned Davies' 2008 translation brings these ancient Welsh stories to life without the stuffy Victorian filter.

You get magic and dragons, but you also get the gritty reality of medieval life, including some heavy themes like sexual assault and betrayal.
