This is what happens when you let actually talented people make a toy commercial—it's shockingly good. The LEGO Batman Movie manages to be a legitimately funny film that works for the whole family without pandering to anyone.
The emotional arc is real: Batman learns that being invulnerable means being alone, and that family (chosen or otherwise) requires risk. It's wrapped in enough explosions and jokes that kids won't realize they're getting a therapy session, but parents will appreciate the message.
The animation is gorgeous, the voice acting is perfect (Will Arnett's Batman voice is chef's kiss), and the writing is dense with jokes that reward multiple viewings. Yes, it's designed to sell LEGO sets, but it's also a genuinely entertaining movie that respects its audience.
The only real drawback is that it moves FAST—this isn't a slow, contemplative film. But for most kids, that's a feature, not a bug. One of the best family movies of the past decade, and it holds up beautifully in 2025.
