The Daily is excellent at what it does—serious, well-researched journalism that helps adults understand the news. But let's be clear: this isn't family listening.
The topics are heavy and often disturbing. Episodes about school shootings, sexual assault allegations, war atrocities, and political crises are common. Common Sense Media's warning is on point: this content can be upsetting even for adults, let alone kids who might overhear it during the morning commute.
For high school juniors and seniors interested in current events, or college students and adults who want to be informed citizens, it's gold. The reporting is thoughtful, the context is invaluable, and it's a much better way to understand the news than doomscrolling Twitter.
But keep this one in your headphones or save it for solo drives. There are better ways to introduce younger kids to news literacy.
