Look, if you're a millennial parent feeling nostalgic for your childhood Nickelodeon days, I get it. The Amanda Show was peak late-90s kid comedy—silly, harmless, and genuinely creative in its sketch variety format.
But here's the truth: this show is 25+ years old and it shows. The aesthetic is ancient, the humor is frenetic in a way that feels quaint compared to modern content, and most kids raised on YouTube and streaming will find it boring. The pacing is slow, the sketches drag, and the whole vibe screams "your parents' childhood."
Add to that the Dan Schneider factor—his shows have been heavily scrutinized for inappropriate content and workplace behavior—and you've got a show that's hard to recommend with enthusiasm. The on-screen content is fine (it's rated for age 7+), but knowing what we know now makes it uncomfortable.
If your kid is genuinely interested in sketch comedy history or you want to share a piece of your childhood, fine—watch an episode together. But don't expect them to binge it or find it remotely as funny as you remember. There are better ways to spend screen time in 2025.
