This is what happens when you take a perfect game and make it better. Tetris Effect: Connected doesn't mess with the core formula—blocks fall, you rotate them, lines disappear—but wraps it in such gorgeous, responsive audiovisual design that it becomes almost meditative.
The Connected expansion adds genuinely clever multiplayer modes. Zone Battle shakes up competitive play, and the co-op mode where three players merge their boards to fight CPU bosses is surprisingly strategic and fun. It's rare to find a game that works equally well solo or with others, for a 7-year-old or a 40-year-old.
The only real concerns are sensory: VR can be intense, and even on flat screens the visual effects are A LOT. If your kid has sensory sensitivities, preview a stage first. Otherwise, this is about as clean a recommendation as you'll find—no purchases, no chat drama, just pure puzzle gameplay that happens to be beautiful and proven to be good for your brain. It's the rare game that adults will actually want to play, not just tolerate.
