Tell Me Why is a gutsy, emotionally intelligent game that tackles childhood trauma, transgender identity, and the slipperiness of memory with genuine care. It's not for kids—this is a narrative experience for older teens and adults who want to feel something and think hard about family, truth, and healing.
The DONTNOD team (Life is Strange creators) knows how to craft intimate mysteries, and this one delivers on atmosphere and character development. The supernatural memory-sharing mechanic is clever without being gimmicky, and the Alaskan setting is gorgeous.
That said, this isn't a game you casually pick up for fun. It's heavy. There's profanity, violence, references to drug use, and some truly difficult scenes involving parental mental illness and death. You need to be ready for an emotional workout.
The representation of Tyler as a trans man is genuinely groundbreaking—not because it's a 'very special episode' but because it's woven naturally into the story. That alone makes this significant, but the game stands on its own merits as a thoughtful exploration of how we construct our past and who we become because of it.
