Strange New Worlds is what happens when Star Trek remembers what made it great in the first place. Instead of the grimdark serialized storytelling that dominated recent Trek, this goes back to episodic adventures with an optimistic crew solving problems through ingenuity and cooperation.
The production values are modern and slick, the acting is solid, and critically it's been very well-received. That 70% audience score isn't about quality—it's about Trek fans having Opinions about which captain is best (they always do).
For families, this is a legitimately good show that kids around 10+ can watch and adults won't find painful. There's space action and occasional intensity, but it's thoughtful sci-fi that actually makes you think rather than just spectacle. If you want something that sparks imagination and models problem-solving without being preachy or boring, this delivers.
