This is solid middle-tier MCU—fun, visually creative, emotionally resonant enough to matter, but not groundbreaking. Tom Holland's Peter Parker remains incredibly likable, and the European vacation setting keeps things fresh. The Mysterio twist is genuinely clever, and the illusion tech makes for some of the most visually interesting sequences in the franchise.
What elevates it beyond pure popcorn is Peter's grief arc and the pressure he feels to live up to Tony Stark's legacy. That's real stuff for kids dealing with loss or expectations. The misinformation angle—Mysterio as a fake hero manipulating the media—is surprisingly timely.
The nightmare illusion sequence is the main safety consideration: zombie Iron Man, distorted villains, and Peter being hit by a train (he's fine, but still) can be intense for younger or sensitive viewers. Otherwise, it's standard Marvel fare—lots of action, no gore, sweet romance, mild language.
It's 2019, so it still feels current and watchable. Kids who love the MCU will have a great time. Parents looking for something with a bit more substance than pure action will appreciate the emotional beats without feeling like they're sitting through a therapy session disguised as a superhero movie.
