Sid The Science Kid is exactly what it claims to be: a preschool science education show that won't make you want to throw the remote through the TV. It's PBS Kids through and through—wholesome, educational, safe, and earnest in that public television way.
The 2008 CGI animation has aged about as well as your Facebook photos from that era (which is to say: not great, but not unwatchable). Modern kids raised on Pixar-level animation might find it a bit stiff and weird-looking, but preschoolers are generally less picky about production values.
The real question is whether your kid is in that narrow window where they're curious about science but still young enough to enjoy a very structured educational format. If you've got a 4-year-old who won't stop asking why the sky is blue or how plants grow, this is gold. If your kid is 7 and into Minecraft or Pokemon, they'll be bored in 30 seconds.
It's a solid STEM foundation builder that actually respects kids' intelligence and curiosity. Just know it's very much preschool content with all the repetition and simplification that entails.
