Let's be clear: this is not a show for kids, tweens, or even most high schoolers. The title is not subtle about what you're getting.
That said, for mature older teens (think 17+) and adults, Sex Education is actually pretty remarkable. It's one of the few shows that treats teen sexuality and identity with both humor and genuine respect, providing the kind of comprehensive sex education that most schools desperately fail to deliver. It's sex-positive without being reckless, diverse without being preachy, and educational without being boring.
The explicit content isn't gratuitous—it serves the story and the educational mission—but it IS explicit. Full nudity, graphic discussions, mature themes throughout. This is TV-MA content that earns its rating.
For parents of older teens who are already having conversations about sex, consent, and relationships, this could be valuable co-viewing material that opens doors to discussions you might not know how to start. But you need to be ready for those conversations to get very specific, very fast.
Bottom line: Great show for the right (older) audience, completely inappropriate for anyone under 17, and even then, know your kid.
