This is a utility app, plain and simple. If your kid has a PlayStation and you're cool with them managing their own gaming life remotely, it's fine—convenient even. But it's also a gateway to the full PlayStation ecosystem, which means access to the store, messaging, and voice chat with whoever's on their friends list.
The safety concerns are real: SaferKid flags it as inappropriate without proper setup, and Sony clearly knows this because they built a separate PlayStation Family app specifically for parental controls. If you're not using that, your kid has unfettered access to chat with strangers and browse mature content.
Bottom line: it's not a standalone experience worth recommending. It's a tool for families already deep in the PlayStation world who need remote console management and are willing to set up proper guardrails. Otherwise, it's just a storefront and messenger that adds more screen time without much value.
