Palm Royale is an Apple TV+ period piece that looks gorgeous but lands somewhere between 'interesting' and 'meh' according to critics and audiences alike. It's not trying to be family content—it's a grown-up dramedy about a woman clawing her way into Palm Beach high society in 1969.
The problem? The whole premise is built on materialism, social manipulation, and status obsession. That's fine for adult entertainment (we all love a good social climbing story), but it's not going to teach your kids anything particularly valuable. If anything, it might reinforce that success = wealth and exclusivity, which... not great.
The 6.8 IMDb and 60% Rotten Tomatoes scores tell you what you need to know: it's watchable but not must-see TV. Kristen Wiig is talented, the costumes are probably fabulous, but the execution seems uneven. For parents looking for something to watch after the kids are in bed? Sure, if you're into period pieces and social satire. For family viewing or anything remotely kid-appropriate? Hard pass.
