Overwatch 2 is a well-designed team shooter that's legitimately less violent than most alternatives—think TF2 meets Pixar. The gameplay is solid, the hero variety is genuinely creative, and it does teach real teamwork and strategic thinking.
But let's be real: the community is a dumpster fire. Your kid will encounter toxicity, rage-quitters, and people who treat Quick Play like the Olympics. The competitive ranked system is designed to be addictive, and while the battle pass isn't pay-to-win, it absolutely creates spending pressure around limited-time cosmetics.
If your 13-year-old can handle online multiplayer dynamics (or you're willing to disable voice chat and monitor playtime), it's a decent option. Just know you're signing up for conversations about what 'diff' means and why some random teenager thinks your kid should uninstall.
