This is a genuinely excellent film about real American heroes, and it doesn't sugarcoat what they faced. The Granite Mountain Hotshots story is inspiring, heartbreaking, and important.
The WISE score reflects a tension: it's enriching and wholesome in its themes, but it's also emotionally brutal. Nineteen real people died, and the film honors that reality. This isn't Marvel-style action where everyone quips and survives—it's a true story with a tragic ending that will stick with your kid.
For the right teen—especially those interested in firefighting, public service, or true stories—this is powerful, well-made, and worth watching together. Just know what you're signing up for: you'll both probably cry, and you'll definitely want to talk about it afterward.
