Look, it's Monopoly. You know what you're getting: a classic board game that teaches kids about money, property, and why capitalism makes everyone miserable (kidding... sort of).
The Switch version does some things right—no predatory monetization, safe online play without chat, and shorter game modes that acknowledge nobody actually has four hours to finish a proper Monopoly game. The 3D boards are fine, the Action Cards add minor variety, and it's genuinely nice to not lose all the pieces.
But here's the truth: Monopoly in 2017 (or now) is still fundamentally Monopoly. It's repetitive, it can drag, and it's designed to create conflict. Kids used to Minecraft, Fortnite, or even modern board games like Catan might find this painfully slow and limited. The IGDB rating of 60/100 tells you what you need to know—it's okay, not great.
If your family already loves Monopoly nights, this is a decent digital version. If you're looking for something genuinely enriching and engaging for modern kids, there are better strategy games out there. But hey, at least nobody can flip the board in rage when it's digital.
