Sky Whale is a textbook example of a kids' app that prioritizes engagement and monetization over child development. It's a tie-in to a Nickelodeon show that aired nearly a decade ago, and it shows—the gameplay is repetitive, the monetization is aggressive, and the privacy practices are sketchy.
The core loop (bounce, collect, unlock, repeat) is designed to trigger dopamine hits and keep kids tapping, not to teach them anything or spark genuine creativity. The AR mode is a fun gimmick for about five minutes, but it doesn't change the fact that this is an endless runner with ads and IAP aimed at children.
If your kid is begging for this because they loved Game Shakers, set strict spending limits and disable in-app purchases entirely. Better yet, steer them toward games that respect their attention and your wallet—this one's a hard pass for intentional parents.
