Look, the original Need for Speed is a landmark in gaming history and gets full marks for being completely safe and wholesome. No microtransactions, no toxic chat, no concerning content—just you, some exotic cars, and alpine roads.
But let's be real: this game is 30+ years old and it shows. The graphics are primitive, the gameplay is bare-bones by modern standards, and unless your kid has a weird fascination with retro gaming or you're running a 'history of video games' homeschool unit, they're going to bounce off this in about 90 seconds.
If you want a Need for Speed experience for your kids, literally any modern entry in the franchise (with appropriate age checks) will be more engaging. This is a museum piece, not something to actually hand a kid in 2025 and expect them to enjoy.
