Here's the deal: critics hated it (48% on RT), but kids who love My Little Pony really enjoyed it (76% audience score). That gap tells you everything you need to know.
This is a perfectly serviceable extension of the TV series—more colorful ponies, more friendship lessons, a bigger adventure, some new characters. It's wholesome, safe, and delivers exactly what MLP fans want. But it's also formulaic, doesn't take creative risks, and won't win over skeptics or parents hoping for something with Pixar's emotional depth.
If your kid is in the MLP demographic (roughly 4-8 years old) and already loves the show, this is a solid 99-minute dose of comfort viewing. If they're not already fans, there are better family films to start with. The WISE score reflects that it does what it sets out to do quite well, but what it sets out to do is fairly narrow.
