Mushoku Tensei is the 'Godfather' of modern Isekai for a reason—it’s brilliantly written, deeply emotional, and features a world so detailed you could get lost in it. It’s also one of the most controversial series in the medium because the protagonist starts as a bottom-of-the-barrel creep who brings his worst real-world habits into his new fantasy life.
If your kid is asking for this, they’ve probably already seen the anime. The light novels are even more detailed, which means more internal monologue from a perverted 34-year-old in a child’s body. It’s a compelling redemption story, but the 'ick factor' in the first few volumes is a massive hurdle. This is a series for mature readers who can handle a 'problematic' protagonist and understand that the story is a critique of his old self, not an endorsement.
