Luke Cage deserves credit for being genuinely different in the superhero landscape—it's culturally rich, socially conscious, and features outstanding Black representation both in front of and behind the camera. The music alone is worth the watch.
But let's be clear: this is NOT family superhero fare. It's violent, mature, and deals with heavy themes in ways that are absolutely inappropriate for younger viewers. If you're looking for something to watch with your 10-year-old who loves Spider-Man, keep scrolling.
For older teens (16-17+) and adults? It's a solid watch with real substance, though it does show its 2016 age a bit and has some pacing issues. The cultural commentary and representation remain relevant and powerful. Just make sure everyone watching is actually old enough for TV-MA content—this isn't negotiable.
