Trevor Slattery is back and still the MCU's most lovable, oblivious fraud in this 14-minute prison mockumentary.
If your family is doing a chronological Marvel marathon, do not skip this. It's a 14-minute victory lap for Ben Kingsley that manages to fix one of the biggest fan complaints from the early MCU movies while being genuinely funny.
It isn't a standalone masterpiece, and if you haven't seen Iron Man 3, it'll make zero sense. But as a 'DVD extra' that actually matters to the plot, it's one of the best things Marvel has produced in the short-form space.
Best for kids 10 and up who have already seen Iron Man 3. It’s a comedy short, so the intensity is low, but the humor relies on knowing the previous movies.

When Iron Man 3 hit theaters, the fan reaction to the 'Mandarin twist' was, to put it mildly, explosive. People hated that a legendary villain was reduced to a bumbling British actor named Trevor. All Hail the King was Marvel's way of saying, 'We hear you, and we have a plan.'
What makes this short work is that it doesn't just apologize; it leans into the absurdity. Trevor Slattery has become a celebrity in Seagate Prison, followed around by a fan club of inmates who treat his failed acting career like legendary lore. It's a sharp satire on fame and the weird ways people find status in closed systems.
For parents, this is a very safe 'bridge' film. There's no major profanity and very little action until the final minute. It's mostly just dialogue-driven comedy. However, it's worth noting that it introduces the concept that the real Ten Rings are much more dangerous than the version we saw in the movies. If you're planning on watching Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings soon, this short is basically the prologue you didn't know you needed.
