Les Simone arrived in 2016 as a breath of fresh air in the Quebec television landscape. Created by Kim Lévesque-Lizotte, the show follows Simone, Nikki, and Mégane. They are three women trying to find their footing in a world that demands they be successful, beautiful, and emotionally stable all at once.
What makes the show work is its refusal to sugarcoat the experience. Simone, the 'stable' one, blows up her life in the first episode because she realizes she's bored. Nikki is an artist struggling with the line between passion and self-destruction. Mégane is navigating the complexities of a relationship with an older man while trying to maintain her independence.
Why it matters for parents
While this isn't a show for kids, it's a great show for parents. It captures that specific anxiety of the modern era—the feeling that you're playing a role you didn't quite audition for. The dialogue is snappy, the Montreal settings are gorgeous, and the chemistry between the leads makes the friendship feel lived-in and real.
