LEGO Life (now branded as LEGO Play) is genuinely trying to be the 'good' social media for kids—and in many ways, it succeeds. The creative tools are legitimately impressive, there's no monetization nonsense, and the parental consent requirements show LEGO takes safety seriously.
But here's the reality: despite moderation, mean kids slip through. Multiple parents report their children encountering bullying, mocking, and intimidation. The gap between LEGO's safety promises and actual user experience is real.
If your kid is emotionally resilient, loves LEGO, and you're willing to check in regularly, the creative features make this worth trying. But go in with eyes open—this isn't a passive, safe digital playground. It's social media, with all the complexity that entails, just wrapped in plastic bricks.
