This is one of those rare pieces of media that's genuinely perfect for family viewing. La Luna is a 7-minute Pixar short that preceded Brave in theaters, and it's become a beloved gem in its own right.
The premise is pure magic: a boy joins his father and grandfather on a boat to discover their family trade—sweeping fallen stars off the surface of the moon. No dialogue, just exquisite animation and a story about finding your own path when the generations before you have strong (and conflicting) opinions about 'the right way' to do things.
It's gentle, gorgeous, and surprisingly profound without ever feeling preachy. The kind of thing you can put on for a 3-year-old who'll be mesmerized by the visuals, or a 9-year-old who'll catch the metaphor about individuality and tradition. And at 7 minutes, it's short enough to rewatch immediately when your kid inevitably asks to see it again.
If you've never seen it, it's available on Disney+ and is the perfect palate cleanser after too much screen time chaos. This is what 'enriching media' actually looks like.
