Louis L'Amour is the ultimate 'dad book' author, but Jubal Sackett is actually one of his best offerings for the younger set. It moves the action back to the 1600s, trading six-shooters for longbows and survival instincts. It’s clean, it’s honorable, and it’s surprisingly meditative.
If you have a kid who is into Hatchet or Wilderness Survival, this is the logical next step. It’s a book about a man who is comfortable in his own skin and respects the world around him. It’s old-school in the best possible way.
