Here's the deal: when you search for "Journey to the Center of the Earth 2008," you're probably thinking of the fun Brendan Fraser 3D adventure movie. This is NOT that movie.
This appears to be one of those straight-to-video knockoffs that studios rush out to capitalize on bigger releases. The ratings tell the whole story—4.1/10 on IMDb, 30% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, 2.8/5 on Letterboxd. Those are "turn it off after 10 minutes" numbers.
While the premise—a Victorian woman hiring an adventurer to find her missing husband who was searching for Earth's core—could be interesting, the execution is apparently so poor that it's essentially unwatchable for modern audiences. The fact that it's available free on a dozen platforms tells you everything: nobody would pay for this.
If your kid is interested in Jules Verne-style adventure, show them the actual 2008 Brendan Fraser version, or better yet, the 1959 classic with James Mason. This one? Skip it entirely. Life's too short for 4.1-rated movies.
