Johnny English is the cinematic equivalent of a participation trophy—it exists, it's harmless, but nobody's really excited about it.
Rowan Atkinson does his best with slapstick spy gags, and for younger elementary schoolers who think pratfalls are peak comedy, this might land. But with a 33% critic score and 51% audience score, the math is clear: this movie is aggressively mediocre.
It's safe, it's short, and it won't traumatize anyone, but it also won't inspire much beyond a few chuckles. The humor feels dated even for 2003, and compared to modern family comedies with sharper writing and better pacing, this one's a tough sell. If your kid is specifically into Mr. Bean or needs something super mild for a rainy afternoon, fine. Otherwise, there are way better options that are actually entertaining for the whole family.
