Iron Man 3 gets unfairly dinged by some fans for the Mandarin twist, but it's actually one of the more thoughtful MCU entries. Tony's anxiety and panic attacks are handled with surprising care, and the film's core message—that he's more than his tech—is solid for an age when kids are figuring out their own identities.
That said, it's still a big, loud, explosion-heavy blockbuster with terrorism as the central threat. The Mandarin's video messages are genuinely menacing, and the stakes feel real in a way that might be too intense for younger or sensitive kids. It's PG-13 for a reason.
If your tween/teen is ready for MCU-level action and can handle some emotional intensity, this is a strong pick. It's entertaining, surprisingly human, and RDJ is as watchable as ever. Just maybe not for the under-11 crowd who found the first Iron Man's cave torture scenes scary.
