The Apple Health app is a solid, privacy-respecting tool for teens learning to manage their wellness. It's not flashy, not fun, and definitely not designed for kids—but for a 14-year-old trying to build better sleep habits or a high schooler tracking their mental health, it's legitimately useful.
The mental health features (mood logging, clinical depression/anxiety screenings) are a standout—rare to see this level of care in a free, built-in app. No ads, no data mining, no manipulation. Just clean, functional design.
That said, younger kids will find this about as engaging as reading a spreadsheet. And even for teens, there's a risk of over-focusing on metrics (hello, step-count obsession). Use it as a conversation starter, not a report card.
Bottom line: If your teen is curious about their health and mature enough to interpret data without spiraling, this is a great tool. For everyone else? It's just taking up space on the home screen.
