This is solid science education wrapped in decent (if slightly dated) visuals. Hawking's explanations are clear without being condescending, and the topics—time travel! aliens! the universe's death!—are inherently fascinating.

The challenge: it's 15 years old, and documentary filmmaking has leveled up significantly since 2010. Kids raised on 4K nature docs and Marvel CGI might find the visuals underwhelming. The pacing is also very traditional—long stretches of narration over animations—which won't work for kids who need faster cuts.

That said, if you've got a budding physicist or a kid who devours space content, this is still worthwhile. It's substantive, intellectually honest, and genuinely enriching. Just set expectations that it's more 'educational' than 'entertainment spectacular.'

The WISE score reflects that tension: excellent content, but realistically, many modern kids will struggle to stay engaged compared to flashier options.
