Ice Age is one of those early 2000s animated films that actually holds up decently—not a masterpiece, but solid family entertainment with heart. The friendship between three wildly different characters is genuinely sweet, and the humor (especially Scrat's wordless acorn quest) still lands.
The animation looks its age, no question. Kids raised on modern Pixar might initially balk at the slightly plasticky character models. But the story moves quickly, the voice acting is strong, and there's enough slapstick to keep younger viewers engaged.
It's not groundbreaking or particularly enriching beyond basic "be kind to others" messaging, but it's a safe, entertaining 81 minutes that won't make you want to claw your eyes out on family movie night. The prehistoric setting gives it some educational flavor without being preachy, and the emotional beats (Diego's redemption, Manny's tragic past) give it more depth than your average kids' comedy.
Basically: it's fine. Good, even. Just don't expect it to change anyone's life.
