Grow Home is one of those delightful indie gems that does exactly what it sets out to do: make you smile while you fumble a goofy robot up a giant beanstalk. The physics-based climbing is genuinely novel—controlling each of BUD's limbs separately creates both comedy and challenge.
It's short, sweet, and completely wholesome. No grinding, no microtransactions, no violence—just a little robot trying his best. The art style is simple but beautiful, and the lack of time pressure means kids can explore at their own pace.
The only real caveat is the intentionally clumsy controls. Some kids will find BUD's wobbly movements endearing and funny; others might rage-quit after their tenth tumble off a cliff. But for patient, curious kids who like exploration over combat, this is a winner. It's the gaming equivalent of a warm hug from a very awkward robot.
