Look, the first Goon had a cult following for its over-the-top hockey violence and heart-under-the-brutality vibe. This sequel? Not so much.
With universally mediocre-to-poor reviews (43% critics, 41% audience, 5.8 IMDb, 2.8 Letterboxd), even die-hard fans mostly gave this a pass. It's R-rated violence and crude humor without the charm that made the original work for its niche audience.
From a WISE perspective, there's nothing here for families. It glorifies fighting, models toxic masculinity, and offers minimal enrichment beyond 'maybe don't make a career out of getting concussions.' The fatherhood subplot is too thin to redeem the rest.
If you're an adult who genuinely loved the first film and need closure, go ahead—but keep your expectations low. For everyone else, this is a hard skip. There are far better sports movies, far better comedies, and far better ways to spend 101 minutes.
